이 논문은 개념적 혼성 이론을 기반으로 하여, 보조용언 ‘-고 말다’의 양태 의미 구성 과정을 밝히는 데 목적을 두었다. 단일 방향으로 사상되는 개념적 은유와 개념적 환유 기반의 의미 구성이 화자나 주체의 감정이나 태도를 주로 나타내는 보조용언의 문법적 의미 구성 과정을 설명하는 데 한계가 있다고 보아, 개념적 혼성이라는 인지 과정을 통해 보조용언의 양태 의미 구성 과정을 밝히고자 한 것이다. 선험적으로 체득한 의미 요소들이 의미 구성 과정에 활용되는 양상을 개념적 통합 연결망을 통해 구조적으로 가시화하여, 보조용언 ‘-고 말다’의 양태 의미가 구성되는 과정을 개념적 혼성이라는 인지 과정으로 구조화하였다.
The purpose of this study is to reveal the process of constructing the modal meaning of an auxiliary verbs, ‘-go malda’, based on conceptual blending theory. Deeming that unidirectionally thought conceptual metaphor and conceptual metonymy-based semantic composition is limited in explaining the process of grammatical semantic composition of auxiliary verbs that mainly represent the emotions or attitudes of a speaker or subject, this researcher intended to figure out the process of constructing the modal meaning of an auxiliary verbs through the cognitive process of conceptual blending. By structurally visualizing the aspects of intuitively acquired semantic elements being used in the process of constructing meaning through a conceptual integration network, this study structuralized the process of constructing the modal meaning of an auxiliary verbs, ‘-go malda’, through the cognitive process of conceptual blending.
