A Study on the View of Life and Death of Contemporary Chinese Popular Culture Content IP: Focusing on the Motif of the ‘three reincarnations’ in the Web Novel “To the Sky Kingdom”

웹소설은 중국 현대 대중문화 콘텐츠 IP의 주요한 원천서사이다. “삼생삼세 십리도화”는 동시대의 가장성공한 IP 원천 가운데 하나이며, 고풍 선협 언정 소설의 장르적 관습을 따르고 있다. 이 소설은 전통적인 신마소설의 ‘삼생전세’ 모티프와 생사관을 계승하는 한편, 중국 현대 대중문화의 요구를 반영해‘삼생삼세’ 우주의 시공간을 확장한다. 본고에서는 “삼생삼세 십리도화”에 계승된 삼생전세 모티프가 시공간을 초월함으로써 더 나은 삶을 추구하는 대중의 욕망이 반영된 것임을 확인할 수 있었다. 이는 죽음의 관점에서 삶을 바라보는 태도로 규정되며, 결국 웹소설의 생사관은 동시대 중국문화의 대중 심리를 반영하는 것이라 볼 수 있다. 삶과 죽음을 초월하려는 판타지 장르의 환상적 소망은 끊임없는 확장을 추동하는 힘이 되며, 중국 현대사회의 현실적 제약은 이러한 대중문화의 판타지적 상상을 추동한다.

Web novels are the main source narratives of contemporary Chinese pop culture content IP, and the ancient style immortal here romance(古風仙俠言情) novel “To the Sky Kingdom” is one of the most successful IP sources of its time. As a genre literature of ancient style immortal here romance, this novel inherits the motif and biological view of traditional supernatural novels(神魔小說), and expands the time and space of the universe of ‘the three life-times of rebirth and three worlds’ by reflecting the needs of modern Chinese popular culture. This paper tried to examine the ‘three reincarnations’ motif inherited from the web novel “To the Sky Kingdom” and the view of life and death embodied by this motif, and to find out how it differs from the view of life and death of traditional culture.
