문화콘텐츠로 재생산되는 인물, 손암 정약전(巽菴 丁若銓)

A Study on Jeong Yak-jeon, a character reproduced as cultural contents

본고는 역사적 인물 정약전이 문화콘텐츠의 인물로 재탄생하는 과정을 고찰하였다. 정약전(丁若銓, 1758-1816)은 조선 영정조와 순조 때 인물로, 성리학자 실학자 수산학자 해양학자 생물학자로 불린다. 또한 그는 서학에 심취하여 조선천주교회 창설을 이끈 천주교인이었다. 신유박해 때 정약전은 흑산도 유배형을 받고 16년 동안 우이도와 흑산도에서 유배자로 살다 죽었다. 무엇보다도 정약전의 대표저술인 『자산어보』는 흑산도 지역의 어류와 해조류에 대한 백과사전식 어류도감으로 학문적 가치를 인정받은 저술이기도 하다. 그러나 정약전은 2000년대 이후 학문의 대상이기보다는 문화콘텐츠안에서 더 많은 창작물로 생산되고 있다. 본고는 2000년대 이후 다양한 방식으로 문화콘텐츠 안에서 재탄생하고 있는 정약전 인물의 특성을 정약용이 남긴 기록과 정약전의 글, 그리고 영화 <자산어보>를 중심으로 비교분석하였다. 이를 통해 정약전이라는 역사적 인물이 이 시대의 문화콘텐츠 특히 영화 <자산어보>에서 드러나는 특성과 가능성, 문화콘텐츠로 생산되는 양상을 밝혔다. 또한 <자산어보>와 같은 역사물 혹은 역사적 인물을 원형으로 하는 문화콘텐츠들이 나아가야 할 방향에 대한 제언을 시도하였다.

This study examined the process of the historical figure Jeong Yak-jeon being reborn as a person of cultural content. Jeong Yak-jeon (1758-1816) was a figure during the reign of King Yeongjeong and King Sunjo of the Joseon Dynasty, and was called a Neo-Confucianist, Silhak, Fisheriesist, and Biologist. In addition, he was a Catholic who was immersed in calligraphy and led the establishment of the Joseon Catholic Church. During the Sinyu-persecution(1801), Jeong Yak-jeon was sentenced to exile in Heuksando Island and died as an exile in Uido Island and Heuksando Island for 16 years. Above all, Jasan-eobo, the representative work of Jeong Yak-jeon, is also a work that has been recognized for its academic value as an encyclopedia of fish and algae in Heuksando Island. However, since the 2000s, Jeong Yak-jeon has been produced as more creations in cultural contents than as an object of study. This paper compared and analyzed the characteristics of Jeong Yak-jeon characters who have been reborn in various ways since the 2000s, focusing on Jeong Yak-yong's records, Jeong Yak-jeon's writings, and the movie Jasan-eobo . Through this, a historical figure named Jeong Yak-jeon revealed the characteristics, possibilities, and aspects of production and consumption of cultural contents of this era, especially in the movie Jasan-eobo. In the conclusion, we tried to make suggestions on the direction in which cultural contents based on historical objects or historical figures such as Jasan-eobo should proceed.
