The goal of this study is to develop and present an interactional and educational model for the teaching of Korean as a second language to married immigrant women and their children. It has been proved that the linguistic input provided by the mother to the child represents an important stimulus for the cognitive development of the child from a very early developmental stage. Married immigrant women, due to their lack of proficiency in Korean, cannot provide such a rich input to their child. The present paper focuses on onomatopoeia words and mimetic words as a mean to foster mother/child interaction, their language proficiency and the child's cognitive development. The interactional and educational model suggestion is divided into a pre-stage level and three additional stages. The pre-stage level is the preparation level, in the first stage married immigrant women are taught onomatopoeia words and mimetic words, in the second stage they practice how to teach their children in the classroom and in the third stage they use their practice to their children. For each stage a detailed explanation of activities and their grounds is presented.
