The purpose of this study is to analyze the students' motivation for learning Korean as a second language. The basis of the analysis is survey data collected from 797 students enrolled in Korean Language pragrams at Yonsei University. The questionnaire was designed to assess various motivational items such as integrativeness, instrumentality, interest in media and culture, attitudes toward Koreans, self-confidence, anxiety and towards the Korean language program. The results of this study show that there are significant differences in the learners' motivation, according to various factors such as gender, age, students' first language, proficiency and achievement in Korean.
