Fundamental Research of Developing Syllabus for Creating hesis/Dissertation

The objective of this study is to offer elementary resources with developing syllabuses for thesis/dissertation writing classes for foreign graduate students with academic purpose. For this study above, surveys of need were performed among foreign graduate students, and analyses of syllabuses from three existing curriculums in two universities were made. Based on results from the researches, creating syllabuses for thesis/dissertation writing courses were suggested for foreign graduate students. According to the surveys among the foreign graduate students, necessity of thesis/dissertation writing classes and, if those courses were established, willingness to enroll for such courses were questioned. The respondents showed strong desire for such courses, and the graduates wanted to learn total of fourteen subjects in the classes. Also nineteen categories were summarized from extracting forty four detailed contents of the three syllabuses. After comparing highly desired learning materials from the surveys and the syllabuses, five categories were added into the original nineteen categories to reflect the results of surveys from the students. Then, the new syllabus was divided into three stages: before, during, and after writing the thesis/dissertation.
