재가중증장애인의 자립생활 전환경험에 관한 질적연구

A Qualitative Study on the Experience of Transitioning to Independent Life of People with Severe Disabilities Living with Family

본 연구는 재가중증장애인의 자립생활 전환 경험을 통해 자립생활에 대한 인식, 자립생활에 영향을 주는 요인, 자립 이후에 필요한 지원 체계에 대해 탐구하고자 하였다. 재가중증장애인으로 현재 자립생활을 유지하고 있는 6명의 연구참여자(청각장애인 2명, 시각장애인 2명, 지체장애인 1명, 뇌병변장애인 1명)를 선정하여 연구참여자들과의 심층 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 취합하고 이를 질적연구 방법 중 하나인 지속적 비교방법으로 분석하여 사례 간 유사점과 차이점을 밝히고자 하였다. 연구 결과는 ‘연구참여자들의 자립에 대한 인식’, ‘나와 원가족의 관계 인식’, ‘자립의 자리로 나아가게 하는 몸짓’, ‘스스로 서기 경험’, ‘자립 이후의 변화’의 5개 주제로 나타났다. 논의 및 결론은 재가장애인의 장애 유형 및 특성에 맞는 자립생활 지원체계 마련, 중앙장애인지역사회통합지원센터에 재가중증장애인 자립전담부서 추가와 함께 현재 시행되고 있는 탈시설 장애인 자립지원 정책을 더 확대하여 원가족으로부터 자립한 중증장애인도 지원받을 수 있도록 지원하는 것이 필요하다는 것이다.

This study aimed to examine the awareness of independent living, the factors affecting independent living, and the necessary support system after independence through the experience of transition to independent living of people with severe disabilities at home. This research was conducted by selecting 6 research participants (2 the Deaf, 2 with visual impairments, 1 with physical disability, 1 with brain lesion disorder) who are severely disabled without experience in living in a residential facility and are currently living independently. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with participants, and a qualitative research method was used to reveal similarities and differences between cases through continuous comparison. As a result of the study, there were five themes: ‘research participants’, ‘awareness of self-reliance’, ‘recognition of the relationship between me and my family of origin’, ‘gestures leading to self-reliance’, ‘experience of standing on my own’, and ‘changes after self-reliance’. The conclusions propose establishing an independent living support system suitable for the disability type and characteristics of the disabled at home, adding a department to the Central Community Integration Support Center for the Disabled, and expanding the currently implemented self-reliance support policy for the disabled. It is necessary to support people with severe disabilities who have become independent from their original families to receive support.
