The Impact of Multidimensional Perfectionism on Career Preparation Behavior: Focusing on the Sequential Mediating Effects of Social Support and Intolerance of Uncertainty

목적 본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 다차원적 완벽주의가 진로준비행동에 미치는 영향에서 사회적 지지와 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족의 기능을 밝히는 데에 있다. 방법 이를 위해 대학생을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사 방식을 통하여 자료를 수집하여 562명의 자료를 분석하였다. 결과 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기지향 완벽주의와 진로준비행동의 관계에서 사회적 지지의 매개효과는 없었으나, 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족은 완전 매개를 보였으며, 사회부과 완벽주의와 진로준비행동의 관계에서 사회적 지지와 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족은 부분 매개효과를 보였다. 둘째, 자기지향 완벽주의는 사회적 지지를 거쳐 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족에 미치는 영향을 주지만 진로준비행동에는 직접 영향을 미치지 않았다. 이에 비해 사회부과 완벽주의는 사회적 지지를 거쳐 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족에 영향을 통해 진로준비행동에도 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 결론 본 연구의 결과는 완벽주의의 특성에 따라 사회적 지지와 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족이 진로준비행동에 상이하게 영향을 미치기 때문에 대학생들의 진로준비행동을 상담하는 과정에서 차별화된 접근이 필요하다는 것을 시사한다.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to elucidate the function of social support and intolerance of uncertainty as mediators between multidimensional perfectionism and career preparation behaviors among college students. Methods Data was collected through an online survey from 562 college students and analyzed. Results The key findings of the study are as follows: Firstly, there was no mediating effect of social support in the relationship between self-oriented perfectionism and career preparation behaviors. However, intolerance of uncertainty exhibited a full mediating effect. In the relationship between socially prescribed perfectionism and career preparation behaviors, both social support and intolerance of uncertainty showed partial mediating effects. Secondly, self-oriented perfectionism influenced intolerance of uncertainty through social support but did not directly impact career preparation behaviors. In contrast, socially prescribed perfectionism had an indirect impact on career preparation behaviors through both social support and intolerance of uncertainty. Conclusions The results of this study suggest that the impact of social support and intolerance of uncertainty on career preparation behaviors varies depending on the characteristics of perfectionism. Therefore, a differentiated approach is needed when counseling college students regarding their career preparation behaviors.
