현재 우리나라에서는 이미 상당한 양의 의료 정보가 인터넷을 통해 일반인들에게 제공되고 있고, 정신과의 경우 여타 다른 진료과에 비해 인터넷을 보다 효율적으로 이용할 수 있으며 진료 영역으로 국한되지 않고 다양하고 광범위한 적용이 가능하여 많은 관심을 받아오고 있다. 그러나 아직까지 구체적으로 정신과 영역에서 시행되고 있는 각종 상담의 실태와 문제점에 대한 논의는 활발하지 않은 실정이다. 본고에서는 실제 상담이 이루어졌던 사이버 정신과의 경우를 통하여 정신과 사이버 상담의 현황과 문제점을 소개하고자 하며, 여러 문제에도 불구하고 인터넷이 정신과 의사의 역할을 높이는데 기여하게 될 수 있기를 바란다.
Currently, a vast amount of medical information and advice is available already to netizens through the internet. The field of psychiatry as compared to other medical consultations has drawn particular interest as the internet can be utilized more effectively without any restrictions on consultation scope. However, an in-depth discussion on the implementation and problem associated with on-line psychiatric consultation has yet to be actively studied. The purpose of this article is to bring to the attention of our readers the case point and problem related to on-line psychiatric consultaion through an analysis of actual case study. We believe our argument to highlight the importance of the internet in promoting psychiatric consultation despite underlying drawbacks.
