In today’s highly competitive coffee markets, barista is the most valuable asset in creating competitive advantage and thus it is imperative to study variables involved in career among coffee-related major students. This study was to identify the relationships among major selection motivation and major commitment and career preparation behaviors. Based on data analysis, results suggested major selection motivation had an effect on major commitment and showed the higher intrinsic motivation was strongly associated with higher level of major commitment. In addition, intrinsic motivation significantly affected career preparation behaviors. Lastly, major commitment positively influenced career preparation behaviors. Based on findings, implications for development of strategic career education for students majoring in the coffeerelated studies was suggested.
