The purpose of this study is to investigate how Korean learners select particles behind nouns when they are making sentences. We divided all subjects into japanese learners, chinese learners and others according to learners' mother language. Also, the subjects were divided into three levels such as beginning, intermediate and advanced level. Japanese learners were having difficulties in selecting particles than chinese learners in beginning level. On the other hand, chinese learners couldn't catch up japanese learners in using particles in advanced level. The ability of using particles of other learners except japanese learners and chinese learners is even in all levels. Most learners properly selected the particles in given sentences, while some didn't catch the property of some particles. In addition, we found that learners easily used the particles in the composite forms or the patterned forms, while they were lacking in their ability to understand and use auxiliary particles. The educational method on particles would be able to be set up based on this study. (Kyung Hee University)
