문항반응이론을 적용한 범죄두려움 척도 타당화

Validation of the Fear of Crime Scale for Item Response Theory

범죄두려움에 관한 연구는 국내외를 막론하고 꾸준히 수행되고 있다. 선행연구에 따르면 일반적 두려움과 구체적 두려움을 동일한 차원에서 바라 볼 수 있는가 또는 범죄두려움을 설명하면서 일반적 두려움과 구체적 두려움의 특성이 다름에도 불구하고 이를 통합하여 범죄두려움을 설명할 수 있는가의 문제가 제기되었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 범죄두려움의 척도를 문항반응이론에 기초한 Rasch 모형을 활용하여 문항 적합도, 문항 곤란도 그리고 응답 범주의 적절성을 검증하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 자료는 범죄두려움 연구에서 가장 널리 활용되고 있는 전국범죄피해조사의 데이터로 수행하였다. 분석결과, 문항 적합도에 있어서는 일반적 두려움에 해당하는 문항은 구체적 두려움의 문항과 이질성이 강하다는 것을 확인하였다. 그리고 문항 곤란도에 있어서는 범죄두려움의 특질이 낮은 응답자에게는 범죄두려움 문항이 적절하지 않는 것을 나타났다. 마지막으로 응답 범주의 적절성을 확인한 결과, 응답자의 특질이 높을수록 범죄두려움을 높게 응답함으로서 5점 척도는 적절한 것으로 조사되었다. 본 연구의 결과로 범죄두려움 연구에서 있어서 학문적 맥락 및 경찰의 국민들의 범죄두려움에 관한 치안서비스를 제공하는데 기초자료로 활용할 것으로 기대한다.

Research on the fear of crime is constantly being conducted both at home and abroad. According to previous studies, the question of whether general fear and specific fear can be viewed on the same level or whether fear of crime can be explained by integrating them despite the differences in the characteristics of general fear and specific fear while explaining fear of crime has been raised. Therefore, in this study, we tried to verify the appropriateness of item fit, item difficulty, and item category by using the Rasch model based on Item Response Theory to measure fear of crime. The data of this study was conducted using the data of the National Crime Victim Survey, which is most widely used in research on fear of crime. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the item corresponding to generalized fear had a strong heterogeneity with the item of specific ear in terms of item fit. In terms of item difficulty, it was found that fear of crime items were not appropriate for respondents with a low trait of fear of crime. Finally, as a result of confirming the appropriateness of the response category, the higher the respondent's characteristic, the higher the fear of crime, so the 5-point scale was investigated as appropriate. As a result of this study, it is expected that it will be used as basic data to provide public security services related to the fear of crime of the people in the academic context and the police in the study of fear of crime.
