This study examines the cases of 369 Village and Hansung University through the lens of the ‘community of practice’ framework. The research aims to identify the role, achievements, and limitations of the campustown project in Seoul. The analysis of these cases sheds light on the significance of collaborative efforts between universities and local communities in regional regeneration initiatives. Additionally, the study underscores the pivotal role played by the Seoul Campustown Project in fostering public engagement in the urban regeneration process. The case of cooperation between Hansung University Campustown and 369 Village will be an important example for the campustown project in Seoul and community cooperation project with universities and regions, and can be used as an example to overcome the limitations of urban regeneration projects and suggest alternatives.
