청소년 여성과 폭력의 다층성

Adolescent Women and the Multilayer of Violence: Focusing on the Korean Movie “House of Hummingbird”

폭력의 특성에서 육체적 폭력 같은 가시적인 폭력 외에도 정신적, 심리적, 사회적 폭력 등 비가시적인 폭력에 대한 논의가 필요하다. 본고에서 한국영화 <벌새>(김보라, 2018)를 중심으로 가정, 학교, 학원이라는 세 공간에서 청소년 여성이 겪는 주관적 폭력, 상징적 폭력, 구조적 폭력에 대해서 고찰한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, <벌새>에서 가정은 남성의 폭력으로 가부장제를 보여주며, 여성의 타자화에 대한 윤리적 투쟁과 인정 투쟁을 보여주며, 육체적 폭력과 정서적 폭력이 공존하는 ‘주관적 폭력’의 공간이다. 둘째, <벌새>에서 학교는 경쟁사회, 동질성의 폭력 속에서 관계의 변화, 유동성, 불안정성을 드러내며, 기성세대·상층계급에대한 반발, 숨겨진 욕망, 마음의 변심을 통해 폭력의 일상화와 관습화를 보여주며, 언어적 폭력과 정서적 폭력이 공존하는 ‘상징적 폭력’의 공간이다. 셋째, <벌새>에서 학원은 자본주의적 모순과 국가 참사를 통해 ‘구조적 폭력’을 보여주며, 구조적 폭력에 대한 성찰, 애도를 통한 기억의 투쟁을 통해 구조적 폭력에 저항하는 공간이다. 이렇듯 <벌새>에서 가정은 가부장제의 억압과 주관적 폭력의 공간이며, 학교는 관계의 불안정성과 상징적 폭력의 공간이며, 학원은 상실의 불가사의한 차원과 구조적 폭력의 공간이다.

In the nature of violence, it is necessary to discuss non-visible violence such as mental, psychological and social violence in addition to visible violence such as physical violence. In this paper, the results of an examination of the subjective, symbolic and structural violence experienced by adolescent women in three spaces(home, school and academy), focusing on the Korean movie “House of Hummingbird” (Bora Kim, 2018), are as follows. First, in “House of Hummingbird”, the home shows the patriarchy through male violence, shows the ethical struggle and recognition struggle against women’s otherizatrion, and is the ‘subjective violence’ space where physical and emotional violence coexists. Second, in “House of Hummingbird”, the school shows the changes of relationships, the liquidity and the instability in competitive society and homogeneous violence, shows the dailyization and habituation of violence through opposition to the older generation and the upper class, hidden desires and change of heart, and is the space of ‘symbolic violence’ where verbal and emotional violence coexists. Third, in “House of Hummingbird”, the academy shows ‘structural violence’ through capitalist contradictions and national disasters, and is the space that resists structural violence through reflection on structural violence and memory struggles through mourning. In “House of Hummingbird”, the home is the space of patriarchal oppression and subjective violence, the school is the space of relationship instability and symbolic violence, and the academy is the space of mysterious dimensions of the loss and structural violence.
