A Case Study of University and Village Community Collaboration for Activation of Local Culture and Arts: “Happy Companion” in First Village in May

This study planned a program considering the local space, residents, and art organizations to vitalize the local culture. And the theme of the theme to encompass the 5.18 Democracy Square and the first neighborhood in May, which was observed for research, was the concept of 'Happy Companion'. In addition, culture and arts were chosen as a medium that could connect urban regeneration near the university and the village community. The themes were divided into 4 categories, and they were divided into May companions, youth companions, village companions, and sharing companions. Through this study, it was found that communication based on stories and communication between local spaces and residents is an important factor in successful planning in order to revitalize local culture and art. Also, in the village community, it is necessary to refer to the history of the arts organizations and the region. Finally, it was found that the conditions for regenerating the region and art city should include people-centered cultural and artistic support and the uniqueness of the region.
