Exploring the Dynamics of Escalation and De-escalation in North Korea's Response to Military Exercises

This study explores the dynamics of escalation and de-escalation in North Korea's response to military exercises. By analyzing North Korea's strategic behavior and historical background, we found that North Korea's response to military exercises is based on various factors, such as the scale of the exercises, participating countries, exercise objectives, and international relations. Additionally, we also found that North Korea's response is often selective, sometimes responding positively to exercises and at other times resorting to threats and retaliation measures. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of North Korea's strategic calculus and dynamic response, providing better references for the international community.
