The purpose of this study is to explore the lived experience of Canadian instructors working at a university in Korea. For this study, autobiographies of two Canadian instructors and three Canadian interview data through on-line were analyzed and interpreted in terms of hermeneutics. The results indicate that they are not sojourners but settlers and search for alternative activities such as travelling and gatherings at English speaking communities due to lack of sense of solidarity with Korean society and to a sense of shield between Canadian English instructors and Koreans.
