This paper reviews the national management style in the literature. It is important to understand how cultures affect the national management style and how they interact with others as well as their own. This study compared representative samples of Canadian and Japanese management firms and tried to make a guideline for studying other cultures, which is especially relevant for companies that are seeking to expand their strategic alliance operations. The Canadians management style was more theoretical and had more imaginative problem solvers than the Japanese. The Japanese were slower decision makers than the Canadians. Therefore, it appears important to develop a framework to establish a connection between cross-cultural differences in schemes, managers` preferences for certain kinds of decisions or actions, and organisational or performance outcomes.
