코로나-19 팬데믹을 겪은 청각장애인들의 의사소통 경험에 대한 질적 연구

A Qualitative Study on the Communication Experience of Hearing Impairment Listeners through COVID-19 Pandemic: Using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis

본 연구는 코로나바이러스감염증-19(이하 코로나19) 팬데믹을 겪은 7명의 20-40대 청각장애인들 을 대상으로 개별적인 심층 인터뷰를 진행하여 의사소통과 삶에 대해 그들의 경험을 중심으로 알아 보고자 하였다. 심층 인터뷰 자료는 녹취 후 전사하여 해석현상학적 분석방법을 이용하여 분석하였 다. 그 결과 ‘의사소통 경험’, ‘코로나19 팬데믹과 의사소통’, 그리고 ‘의사소통과 청각장애인의 삶의 질’이라는 3가지 대주제가 도출되었다. ‘의사소통 경험’에서는 대면, 문자, 화상 대화라는 3가지 의 사소통 방식으로 나누어 서술하였다. ‘코로나19 팬데믹과 의사소통’에서는 마스크 착용에 따른 의사 소통 경험과 코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서 위협받는 그들의 생존권에 대해 서술하였다. 마지막으로 ‘의 사소통과 청각장애인의 삶의 질’에서는 코로나19 팬데믹으로 인해 의사소통의 어려움이 가중된 청 각장애인의 경험에 대해 알아보았다. 코로나19와 같은 호흡기 전염병 사태가 반복될 수 있다는 점에 서 이번 청각장애인의 경험에 대한 질적 연구는 그들의 삶의 질과 생존권 향상에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has begun. Quarantine guidelines called “social distancing” were implemented, and many changes occurred in people's daily lives. Hearing-impaired listeners, who communicated daily wearing hearing aids or cochlear implants, faced new obstacles, such as sudden changes in communication methods and wearing masks. This study attempted to discover their way of communication by conducting an in-depth interview with seven hearing-impaired people in their 20s and 40s who suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic. Results revealed that three main themes were emerged: 'communication experience,' 'COVID-19 pandemic and communication', and 'communication and the quality of life of the hearing-impaired people.' The 'communication experience' was divided into three communication methods: face-to-face, text, and video conversation(video call). 'COVID-19 Pandemic and communication' describes the communication experience of wearing masks and their right to live threatened in the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, in 'Communication and Quality of Life of the hearing-impaired people,' we looked at their QoL experiences, whose communication difficulties were increased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wearing a mask increases communication difficulty physically and psychologically, putting their obstacles and limitations in a more difficult position.
