Exploring the storytelling for the Expansion of English Literature Class based on Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman

This paper aims to study “storytelling through English literature works” as a way for students in the English literature department to build their major knowledge and understand the community, society, and culture. This study focuses on Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman to find the points not only with an understanding of the background of the times but also with aspects of social phenomena at the time, such as social systems, personal conflicts, a conflict of values, and the collapse of community. Through this course, English literature learners can be interested in the storytelling of Death of a Salesman to understand American society and expand their gaze to other people's lives and their community to develop insights to look at and understand the world. Storytelling through the text can experience the growth of the self that can be obtained by establishing social relationships. This is the power of literature.
