Modern Palestinian Poem Between Abstraction and Personification

This research is a study in the modern Palestinian poem by approaching some of its features that characterize it. At the beginning, I tried to differentiate between two trends in poetry: “abstraction” and “embodiment”. Poetry becomes abstract when the poem turns into a kind of philosophy and wisdom. In abstract poetry, the poem moves away from the details of daily life. As for “embodiment” in poetry, it means that poetry captures some images of ordinary daily life. The poem in figurative poetry engages with the themes of everyday life. The researcher believes that Palestinian poetry was closer to embodiment than to abstraction because the Palestinian poem was part of the daily struggle with the occupier. This research focuses on the movement of modern poetry in the Palestinian territories. The beginnings were clear, lyrical, and simple, and poetry was born spontaneously from life situations. After the defeat of June, Palestinian poetry is divided into the poetry of the Nakba in the occupied interior, and the poetry of exile abroad. One of the most important features of the Palestinian cause was that it did not fall into the trap of repetition and directness.
