적벽대전을 앞둔 백만 대군의 조조 진영은 상대 주유 진영에 비해 압도적인 전력을 갖추고 있었기에 사기 충천하였다. 따라서 전장에 나온 뭇 군사들이 고향의 부모처자를 그리워하며 신세 한탄하는 내용의 ‘군사설움타령’이 조조가 적벽대전을 앞두고 선상에서 설연한 부분에 들어가는 것은 이면에 맞지 않는다. ‘단국대 소장 27장본 <젹벽젼>’에는 ‘군사 자탄 사설’, ‘군사설움타령’, ‘군사 점고’ 등이 한 덩어리로 결합되어 ‘조조 패주’ 부분에 들어 있다. <적벽가> ‘군사설움타령’의 초기 형태는 이같이, ‘조조 패주’ 부분에 ‘군사 자탄 사설’, ‘군사 점고’와 뒤섞여 있는 소략한 내용이었을 것이라고 본다. ‘국립도서관 소장 19장본 <적벽가>’의 ‘선상 설연’ 부분에 들어 있는 ‘부모 생각’, ‘신부 생각’, ‘새·돈 생각’으로 구성된 ‘군사설움타령’이 ‘조조 패주’ 부분에서 ‘선상 설연’ 부분으로 옮겨진 직후의 간략한 형태로 보인다. 이러한 위치 이동은, 이후 ‘자식 생각’, ‘아내 생각’ 등이 ‘군사설움타령’에 덧붙는 비약적인 사설 확대의 계기가 되기도 하였다. ‘신재효본 적벽가’의 ‘군사설움타령’은 ‘부모 생각’, ‘아내 생각’, ‘자식 생각’, ‘신부 생각’, ‘형제 생각’, ‘새 생각’, ‘병교자 패’, ‘싸움타령’ 등으로 구성되어 있다. 여타 <적벽가> 이본들의 ‘군사설움타령’을 모두 포괄함으로써, 신재효에 의해 ‘군사설움타령’이 비약적으로 확대됨과 동시에 후대의 내용을 규정하는 완성본이 이루졌다고 할 수 있다. ‘박헌봉 <창악대강> 적벽가’를 비롯한 다수의 이본에 들어 있는 ‘팔십당년 우리 부모’는 현행 창본의 ‘아내 생각’으로 대체되었다고 볼 수 있는데, 이는 동 대목이 ‘부모 생각’과 내용적으로 중첩되기 때문일 것이다. 현행 <적벽가> 창본의 ‘부모 생각’에는, 부모를 그리워하는 부분과 전장에 끌려와 생사가 조석인 자신의 신세를 한탄하는 부분이 함께 들어 있다. ‘군사설움타령’에서 이 두 부분이 별개의 대목으로 나뉘어져 불리기도 하였는데, 현행 창본들에는 합쳐진 것만 남았다고 할 수 있다. ‘군사설움타령’은 위와 같은 변모를 거친 후 현전 창본에 이르러 ‘부모 생각’, ‘자식 생각’, ‘아내 생각’, ‘신부 생각’, ‘돈 생각’, ‘위국자불고가’, ‘싸움타령’ 등을 포함하는 모습으로 정착되었다.
In Jojo’s camp, with a million men in the Battle at Jeokbyeok (Jeokbyeokdaejeon) the morale was high because of their overwhelming military strength against their opponent Juyu’s camp. “Gunsaseorumtaryeong” refers to the lamenting song of the soldiers in Jojo’s camp who were missing their parents, wife, and family and bemoaning their hard fate. Therefore, when Jojo held a huge feast toward the end of the war, this “Gunsaseorumtaryeong” did not match the sentiment of feasting displayed by Jojo. In Dongguk University´s 27th collection of books, <Jyeokbyeokjyeon>, the “Gunsa Jatan Saseol,” “Gunsaseorumtaryeong,” and “Gunsa Jeomgo” were all combined into the part “Jojo paeju.” From this, it can be inferred that the early <Jeokbyeokga> “Gunsaseorumtaryeong” form might have been a small part of “Gunsa Jatan Saseol” and “Gunsa Jeomgo.” “Gunsaseorumtaryeong,” was composed with “Bumosaenggak,” “Sinbusaenggak,” and “Sae·donsaenggak” in “Seonsangseoryeon” as part of “the national library’s 19th collection of books, <Jeokbyeokga>” immediately after the transfer of the “Jojo paeju” part to the “Seonsangseoryeon” part. With the move to this location gaining momentum, “Anaesaenggak,” “Jasiksaenggak,” and others were added to “Gunsaseorumtaryeong” leading to a rapid expansion of Saseol. “Gunsaseorumtaryeong” of Sinjaehyo’s work “Jeokbyeokga” comprises the “Bumosaenggak,” “Anaesaenggak,” “Jasiksaenggak,” “Sinbusaenggak,” “Hyeon gjesaenggak,” “Saesaenggak,” “Byeonggyoja Pae,” “Ssaumtaryeong,” and so on. All the different versions of “Gunsaseorumtaryeong” were found in Sinjaehyo’s work. So he expanded the “Gunsaseorumtaryeong” and created a final work that defined the contents for future generations. “Palsibdangnyeonuribumo” in many versions including “Bakheonbong’s <Cha ngakdaegang> Jeokbyeokga” is probably a substitute for the current “Anaesa enggak” because the same passages overlap the “Bumosaenggak” in its contents. The existing “Bumosaenggak” of <Jeokbyeokga> has both the parts of the missing parents and the part of the soldiers lamenting their fate in a life-or-death situation. These two parts were sung separately earlier, but only the combined versions exist now. This was how “Gunsaseorumtaryeong” went through a period of transition. It became a fixed form containing “Bumosaenggak,” “Jasiksaenggak,” “Anae saenggak,” “Sinbusaenggak,” “Donsaenggak,” “Wigukjabulgoga,” and “Ssaumt aryeong” in the existing version.
