뿌리깊은나무박물관 소장 필사본 <沈靑傳>의 이본론

The Distinctive Features of the Manuscript Version Simcheongjeon Owned by Suncheon Ppurigibeunnamu Museum

이 글은 기왕에 경판본 문장체 「심청전」과의 관련성이 언급된 순천뿌리깊은나무박물관 소장 필사본 <沈靑傳>(이하 ‘뿌리본 <沈靑傳>’)을 대상으로, 이 이본이 경판본 계열 이본들 간의 관계를 파악하는 데 주는 시사점을 구체적으로 논함으로써 그 이본적 의의를 드러내고자 하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 필자가 원문 전체를 판독하면서 파악한 뿌리본 <沈靑傳>의 서지사항을 소개한 뒤, 경판본 「심청전」 3종과 이본 대교를 했을 때 주목되는 뿌리본 <沈靑傳>의 특징을 크게 다음의 4개 범주로 나누어 상세히 논의하였다: (1) 한남본·대영A본과 동일하고, 대영B본과 다른 부분, (2) 대영B본과 동일하고, 한남본·대영A본과 다른 부분, (3) 뿌리본 <沈靑傳>만의 독자적인 부분, (4) 경판본 3종과 동일한 오류를 보이는 부분. 그리고 이를 토대로 경판본 문장체 계열 「심청전」의 관계도를 그려보았다. 연구 결과, 이 뿌리본 <沈靑傳>은 앞부분에 있어서는 대영B본에 비해 오류가 적고 본래적인 모습을 갖춘 한남본·대영A본과 친연성을 나타냈으며, 한남본·대영A본에 생략 혹은 삭제된 뒷부분에 있어서는 대영B본과 친연성을 갖되 대영B본에 나타나는 일부 오류와 누락되어 있는 내용을 바르게 갖추고 있었다. 이런 점에서 뿌리본 <沈靑傳>은 한남본·대영A본, 그리고 대영B본에 앞서는 좀더 조리 있는 모본을 바탕으로 하여 필사한 것이라고 판단해볼 수 있었다. 그리하여 뿌리본 <沈靑傳>은 현전하지 않는 경판 문장체 계열 「심청전」 원본의 존재를 분명히 해주면서 그러한 원본에 보다 가까운 판본에 다가설 수 있게끔 하는 중요한 위상을 지닌 심청전 이본이라는 점을 제시해보았다.

This paper was intended to reveal the value of the manuscript version of Simcheongjeon which is owned by Suncheon Ppurigibeunnamu Museum by discussing in detail the implications of this Simcheongjeon on identifying the relations between Seoul woodblock-printed versions of Simcheongjeon in the literary style. For this purpose, I firstly described the bibliographic information of this Simcheongjeon. Next, the features of this Simcheongjeon were discussed in four categories compared to three versions of woodblock-printed in Seoul: (1) the same parts as Hannam/Daeyoung-A version and different from Daeyoung-B version; (2) the same parts as Daeyoung-B version and different from Hannam/Daeyoung-A version; (3) the independent parts of this Simcheongjeon; and (4) the parts with the same error as the other three version. Based on them, I drew a relationship diagram between the manuscript version of Simcheongjeon owned by Suncheon Ppurigibeunnamu Meseum and three Seoul woodblock-printed versions. This research showed that the manuscript version of Simcheongjeon owned by Suncheon Ppurigibeunnamu Museum had been transcripted a more systematic version of Simcheongjeon that preceded the version of Hannam, Daeyoung-A and Daeyoung-B. Therefore, it can be said that this Simcheongjeon has an important status in that makes it clear the existence of original version of Simcheongjeon in literary style which is not present, but also makes it closer to that original version.
