판소리의 교육현황과 발전방안

Present situation and development plans of Pansori

Pansori curriculum consists largely of theory and practice. The former is to explicate the related matters academically, and the latter is to teach how to sing Pansori. The aim of this article is to search for development plans of Pansori education after looking over its present situation of Pansori education in terms of its practice. The present Pansori education is largely composed of three parts; (1) teaching in school (2) private teaching, (3) Pansori teaching which is provided by a related institution. There being shortage of curriculum and conspicuous lack of Pansori professors, we are faced with definite limit in academic education of Pansori. The academic education of Pansori has two phases; elementary, middle, high school curriculum and university curriculum. The former is crucial in that it provides fundamentals through which future gifted persons can be found and brought up, and in that it also expands the base of Pansori. Traditional music instructor pool sponsored by Ministry of Culture and Tourism enriches traditional music education, and furthermore it works as an initiating device expanding the field of traditional music. Having a merit as institutional education equipped with curriculum, Pansori education in university plays a key role in descending Pansori. Private teaching is important in that it abides by traditional Pansori teaching method and complements school education. Pansori lectures, led by the National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts or other local traditional music institutions, are also one of Pansori education methods. Especially, Pansori education for amateurs is significant since it makes fundamentals of Pansori stronger and enables its succession possible. The present Pansori education in university is a kind of acting course focused on bringing up ability as a singing drama(Changgeuk) performer. But depending solely on producing performers does not promise bright future in the Pansori world. We should be able co bring up a genuine singing actor/actress of our time. It is an urgent matter co develop the ability co create and write Pansori. To do so, it is needed co reinforce Pansori creation curriculum. In reality, the first thing co do is recruit full-time Pansori instructor and ultimately if Pansori department or Pansori college can be established, it will greatly contribute to Pansori activation. Pansori Myeongchang(Maestro) is a principal person and an instructor as well. As an instructor, the Maestro should have open perspective for sound, and should think what is the best way for his/her pupils at this time. The existence of people who are enjoying Pansori proceed development of Pansori. Since they contribute greacly co popularization and generalization of Pansori, lectures of traditional music related institutions and private institutes, given co amateurs should prosper through PR etc. It is also urgent to establish Pansori teaching methodology dealing with how co teach Pansori according to age, gender, vocal sound.
