Prosperity Schemes of Gochang County Pansori as a Regional CultureSon, Tae DoGochang(고창; a county of Jeonrabuk-do now) was once the sacred place Pansori culture in the Joseon dynasty because Shin, Jae Hyo(신재효, 1812~1884) supported and taught Pansori singers. But now there is no one famous Pansori singer in Gochang.Gochang should accept some schemes for being a important place Pansori culture.1. Gochang must accept Hong, Jeong Taek(홍정택; lives in Jeonju) as a Pansori singer who derived from Gochang. His step-grandfather Hong, Nak Kwan(홍낙관) who was born in Gochang was the leader of the Kwangdae group (광대 집단; an official and hereditary entertainer group in Korea) military unit in the Donghak(동학) Revolution period.2. Gochang must have a famous Pansori singer as a teacher on the lessions in the Dongri(동리; a pen name of Shin, Jae Hyo) Korean Music Institute.3. Dongri Prize must regain its original reputation.4. Pansori Museum in Gochang must be a representative Pansori Archives in Korea.5. Pansori was the art of the Joseon dynasty. A singer performed on the open ground as like a yard. But modern time requires a serious performance art in the theater. There is needed a Korean classical opera that was developed from Pansori in successful method. It have been a major subject of Pansori since the year of 1902(the first theater Hyeopryulsa(협률사) was built in Korea). Gochang should have the Korean Classical Opera Institute which will research and make experiment of the Korean classical opera as a very successful performing art. This is very important suggestion for the prosperity of Gochang as a major Pansori place.I want Gochang should be the lead region in Pansori culture once again.
