어머니의 양육스트레스와 아동의 집행기능 곤란과의 관계에서 아동의 미디어 사용의 매개효과

The Mediating Effect of Children’s Media Use on the Relationship Between Mothers' Parenting Stress and Child’s Difficulty in Executing: Focusing on the Moderating Effect of Social Support Perceived by Mothers.

본 연구는 어머니의 양육스트레스가 아동기 자녀의 미디어 사용을 통해 자녀의 집행기능에 미치는 영향에서 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지원의 조절효과를 검증할 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 한국아동패널 13차년도(2020년) 조사에 참여한 초등학교 6학년(12세) 아동을 자녀로 둔 어머니와 그의 자녀(1,087가구)를 대상으로 SPSS 27.0과 PROCESS Macro for SPSS 4.3의 model 1, 4, 7을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 양육스트레스는 자녀의 집행기능 곤란에 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 아동기 자녀의 미디어 사용은 어머니의 양육스트레스와 자녀의 집행기능 곤란의 관계를 매개하였다. 셋째, 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지원은 어머니의 양육스트레스와 아동기 자녀의 미디어 사용의 관계를 조절하였다. 결론적으로, 어머니의 양육스트레스와 자녀의 집행기능 곤란과의 관계에서 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지원이 자녀의 미디어 사용을 조절하는 것으로 나타나, 조절된 매개효과(moderated mediation effect)가 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 시사점을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to verify the controlled mediating effect of social support perceived by mothers on the relationship between mothers' parenting stress and their children's executive functions, mediated through media use. To accomplish this, data were collected from 1,087 mothers and 6th-grade elementary school children (12 years old) as part of the 13th wave of the Korean Children's Panel. SPSS 27.0 and PROCESS Macro for SPSS 4.3, models 1, 4, and 7 were employed for data analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows: First, children's media use was found to mediate the impact of mothers' parenting stress on their children's difficulties in execution. Second, it was confirmed that the social support perceived by mothers controlled the effect of mothers' parenting stress on their children's media use. Third, it was observed that the social support perceived by the mother had a controlled mediating effect on the relationship between the mother's parenting stress and the child's difficulty in executing, by controlling for the child's media use. Based on these results, implications and suggestions are presented.
