Factors affecting safe driving habits

안전하지 못한 운전습관은 난폭운전, 과속운전, 법규위반 등을 야기하며 운전자를 비롯하여 보행자와 같은 모든 도로 이용자들에게 위험요인으로 작용한다. 자동차는 현대인에게 편안한 이동수단이자 삶의 질을 높여주는 과학기술의 집합체라고 표현되지만 오늘날에도 자동차 사고에 대한 언론보도는 끊이지 않는 실정이다. 이 연구는 안전운전 습관에 미치는 요인을 검토한 문헌들을 토대로 인구사회학적 변수, 교통사고 경험을 변인으로 설정하여 안전운전 습관에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 검토하였다. 추가적으로 운전자가 가입한 보험에 대한 만족도를 변인으로 설정하여 보험만족도가 안전운전 습관에 미치는 영향을 탐색적으로 검토하였다. 구체적으로 보험사의 과실여부 판정의 공정성, 보험비용, 절차적 만족도가 운전자의 안전운전 습관에 미치는 영향을 다중 회귀분석을 통해 검증하였다. 연구결과 선행연구들에서 검증되었던 성별, 연령, 교통사고 경험은 안전운전 습관에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤음을 확인할 수 있었다. 한편 보험만족도 중 과실여부 판정의 공정성만이 안전운전 습관에 통계적으로 유의하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 안전운전 습관을 증진시킬 정책적 함의를 논의하고, 후속연구에 대한 제안을 하였다.

Unsafe driving habits cause violent driving, speeding, and violations of laws. Therefore, this habits are risk factors for all road users, including drivers and pedestrians. Cars are described as a comfortable means of transportation for modern people and a collection of science and technology that improves the quality of life, but media reports on traffic accidents continue even today. Current study empirically reviewed the impact on safe driving habits by setting demographic variables and traffic accident experiences variables based on literature that reviewed factors affecting safe driving habits. In addition, the driver's satisfaction with insurance was set as a variable to explore the impact of insurance satisfaction on safe driving habits. Specifically, the judgement fairness of accident, insurance costs and procedural satisfaction on drivers' safe driving habits was verified through multiple regression analysis. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that gender, age, and traffic accident experiences had statistically significant effects on safe driving habits. On the other hand, only judgement fairness of accident among insurance satisfaction had statistically significant effect on safe driving habits. Based on these results, the policy implications for promoting safe driving habits were discussed.
