The purpose of this paper is to investigate that the formations of the derived verbs with a suffix -en can be productive structurally and functionally when the phonological and morphological restrictions in the suffixation to the base are satisfied. Phonologically the base should be monosyllabic and have the final obstruents, whereas morphologically the base or the stem should belong to the grammatical class of adjectives (or some of exceptional derived nouns). The semantic property that the suffix -en has could be inchoative or causative; this might be regarded as the latent nature resulting from morphologically meaningful units. As a result, it would be obvious that morphophonological constraints [Obs]#, [monoσ]stem, and [Adj]stem analyzing the phonological distribution and morphosyntactic construction as well as the frequencies in corpus relating with the use of the verb forms with -en prove the productivity in the observation of word formation.
