An Analysis of Camping Site Evaluation by Campers Using IPA: Focused on metropolitan area

The purpose of this study is to check the requirements for the operation of the camping site by evaluating the importance and satisfaction of campers for the camping site and to check the operation status of the camping site to find a systematic and efficient way to operate the camping site. As a research method, a literature study was first conducted to review prior studies. In addition, a survey on the importance and satisfaction of 30 evaluation attributes was conducted for campers who used camping sites in the metropolitan area more than once. The survey was conducted for 11 days. for August 7 to August 2023. Frequency analysis, difference verification, and IPA analysis conducted excluding insignificant attributes of rest areas, surrounding tourism resources, and leisure & experience programs, 16 attributes were located in Quadrant 1, 2 attributes in Quadrant 2, 6 attributes in Quadrant 3, and 3 attributes in Quadrant 4. Through this, it was found that energy to invest in six attributes located in Quadrant 3, which are considered low in both importance and satisfaction, should be devoted to the other attributes of sink cleanliness and waste disposal cleanliness located in Quadrant 4. In addition, the results of this study, which showed that camper’s interest in hygiene and safety facilities increased through the COVID-19 pandemic, suggested that campsite operators should make more efforts to manage hygiene and safety.
