Expanding Value Relations and Zhu xi’s Interpretation of Eight aims(八條目) as the Principle of Content Organization in the Moral Education Curriculum

이 글은 주희의 팔조목 해석을 도덕 교육의 내용 구성 원리인 가치 관계 확장법과 접속시키는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 우선 가치 관계 확장법과 주희의 팔조목 해석이 그 문제설정의 차원에서 심층적으로 공명한다는 점을 논했다. 교육 내용 구성의 계열성과 통합성을 확보하는데 효과적이라는 점은 주희와 도덕 교과가 각각 팔조목과 가치 관계 확장법을 부각한 공통적인 이유이다. 나아가 주희가 팔조목의 계열성, 그 심층적인 문제를 해명하기 위해 남긴 발화들이 가치 관계 확장법의 보완 및 발전에 기여할 수 있다는 점을 논했다. 팔조목에서 선행 목표와 후행 목표 간의 관계를 어떻게 설정할 것인가라는 문제에 관한 두 응답은 양면성을 가지고 있다. 주희는 그 양면성을 충분히 인식하면서, 팔조목 해석의 정합성을 확보하고자 했다. 주희의 이러한 사상적 과제는 가치 관계 확장법에 제기될 수 있는, 그러나 여전히 미지의 영역으로 남아 있는 문제를 제시하고 그 응답의 유력한 갈래들을 보여준다는 의의가 있다.

This article aims to connect Zhu Xi’s interpretation of the Eight aims(八條目) with the expanding value relations as the principle of content organization in the moral education curriculum. To this end, we first argued that the expanding value relations and Zhu xi’s interpretation of the Eight aims resonate deeply with the problem-setting dimension. The fact that it is effective in securing sequence and integration of educational content organization is a common reason why Zhu xi and the moral education Curriculum emphasize the Eight aims and the expanding value relations. Futhermore, it argued that the utterances left by Zhu Xi to elucidate the sequence of the Eight aims, especially its in-depth problems can contribute to the supplementation and development of the expanding value relations. The two responses to the question of how to establish the relationship between former aim and later aim in the Eight aims are ambivalent. While fully recognizing its ambivalence, Zhu Xi sought to ensure the coherence of the interpretation of the the Eight aims. The significance of Zhu Xi's intellectual work is that it presents a problem that can be posed to the expanding value relations, but which remains uncharted territory, and suggests a possible line of response.
