발달장애인 형제를 둔 성인 비장애 형제자매의 정서적 경험과 지원요구에 대한 연구

A Study on the Emotional Experience and Support Needs of Non-disabled Adult Siblings of Persons with Developmental Disabilities: Analysis Based on Focus Group Interviews by Birth Order of Siblings

본 연구에서는 형제순위에 따라, 발달장애인 형제를 둔 성인 비장애 형제자매가 살아오면서 겪은 정서적 경험에 대해 심도 있게 살펴보고, 관련된 지원요구를 분석하여 효과적인 지원 방향을 제시하고자 발달장애인의 손위형제 4명, 손아래형제 4명을 대상으로 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 각 1회 실시하였다. 연속적 비교분석 결과, 손위형제그룹에서 8개의 상위범주와 24개의 하위범주가 도출되었고, 손아래 형제그룹에서 8개의 상위범주와 24개의 하위범주가 도출되었다. 두 집단의 공통된 8개의 상위범주는 정서적 경험에 대해서는 장애를 인식한 방법, 장애형제와의 경험과 정서, 부모와의 경험과 정서, 타인과의 경험과 정서, 비장애 형제자매로서의 역할이 도출되었고, 지원요구에 대해서는 지원의 필요성, 지원 시기, 지원 내용이 도출되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 비장애 형제자매 지원 분야에 시사점을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the emotional experiences of non-disabled adult siblings while growing up among persons with developmental disabilities. We also analyzed the data according to the birth order of the siblings and suggested effective support by analyzing related support needs. For this purpose, the focus group interview was conducted once for each of the four older siblings and the four junior siblings. As a result of successive comparative analysis on these interviews, the older sibling group produced eight upper categories and 24 subcategories and the junior sibling group also produced eight upper categories and 24 subcategories. The common upper categories for the two groups were as follows. As for emotional experiences, the categories were 'How to Recognize Disabilities,' 'Experience and Emotion with Disabled Siblings,' 'Experience and Emotion with Parents,' 'Experience and Emotion with Other People,' and 'Roles as Non-disabled Siblings.' As for emotional support, the categories were ‘Necessity of Support,’ ‘When to Support,’ and ‘Support Content.’ The results of this study helped to determine areas of support for non-disabled siblings.
