This study examines the self-regulated learning ability of exchange students and its impact on their Korean language learning outside the classroom. The results reveal significant levels of self-regulated learning ability in aspects such as 'locus of control orientation', 'attitude', 'intrinsic motivation', 'help seeking', and 'self-monitoring'. Additionally, exchange students demonstrate proficiency in 'regulation of environment', 'effort regulation', 'self-efficacy', 'memory strategy', and 'concentration & sustained attention'. However, areas such as 'organization', 'self-evaluation', and 'planning & goal-setting' show lower scores. Therefore, it is necessary for teachers to intervene appropriately, enabling learners to self-regulate their learning by setting their own goals, performing tasks, and evaluating their learning outcomes to address their deficiencies. Learners also accessed Korean media content and online resources to enhance their language learning, and used Korean immersion environments to actively engage with locals and native speakers, extending their learning beyond the classroom. Nevertheless, challenges arise due to emotional factors, such as lack of confidence. In conclusion, to solve these problems, it will be necessary for teachers to provide students with appropriate online resources and present tasks that promote real-world interaction with native speakers.
