Temperamental Surgency and Parental Parenting as Predictors of 18∼36 Month Infant-Toddlers’ Socio-Emotional Behavior

Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of temperamental surgency and parental parenting on 18∼36 month infant-toddlers’ socio-emotional behavior. Methods: The subjects were 89 18∼36-month-old infant-toddlers and their parents. Results: First, in- fant-toddlers’ temperamental surgency and maternal warmth affected infant-toddlers’ competence. Second, maternal warmth affected infant-toddlers’ externalizing problem behavior. Third, in- fant-toddler’s temperamental surgency and paternal control affected infant-toddlers’ internalizing problem behavior. Forth, infant-toddlers’ temperamental surgency and paternal control affected infant-toddlers’ dysregulation. Conclusions: Infant-toddlers’ surgency and parenting behavior af- fect infant-toddlers’ socio-emotional behavior.
