Objective: The purpose of this study is to longitudinally explore the effects of play and learning time with mothers on positive peer interactions through vocabulary and language skills, and to compare differences between groups according to the mother’s employment. Methods: 1,084 children and their mothers from the Panel Study on Korean Children were used to analyze mediation and moderated mediation effects. Data were analyzed using Model 6 and Model 84 of Process Macro 4.2 developed by Hayes. Results: First, vocabulary and language skills showed a double mediating effect in the relationship between play and learn- ing time with mothers and positive peer interaction in both groups, regardless of whether mothers are employed or not. Second, as a result of verifying the controlled mediating effect of mothers’ employment, it was found to be insignificant. Conclusions: This study is ex- pected to not only verify the relationship between mother and child's quality time and child's development, but also help reduce the guilt of the lack of parenting time of working mothers and enhance the understanding of the path of peer interaction development of infants.
