This study attempts to analyze the effect of a rubric as one of the ways to increase the learning effect when operating the discussion-centered Terminology and Discussion class. To solve the research question, a rubric was developed and CoI (Community of Inquiry) questions were adjusted for the class. The rubric was designed based on the concept of terminology competency for translators, and the principle of rubric and CoI questions were also designed based on the characteristics of terminology classes. Then, the rubric was provided only in the second half of the semester. And the CoI framework was provided for the class students to find out the learning effect before and after utilizing the rubric. As a result. the self-assessment with the rubric shows that students are considered to improve their terminology competencies. In addition, regarding the effect of rubric, the CoI results show that the cognitive presence was improved, which lowered the social presence. And the decline have an impact on the teaching presence.
