온라인 세종학당의 운영 현황 분석 연구

A Study on the Analysis of Operation Status and Improvement of Online King Sejong Institute: Focusing on the Pilot Project for Beginner’s Level in 2020

The purpose of this study was to deduce implications for the operation status of Online King Sejong Institute based on the analysis and result of the Pilot Project for Beginner’s Level. First, in terms of operational performance, the number of student registration was 3.5 times more than the target number and courses are expanded to Introduction Cyber Korean Courses in addition to the beginner’s courses. It also helped improve Korean language teachers’ online teaching skills. Based on the results of the analysis of the operation status, the implications related to teachers, students, curriculum and educational environment are as follows. First, regarding teachers, 1) For the selection of teachers, the experience of online education should be considered in addition to Korean language education experience. 2) Setting up the LMS classrooms is not part of the teacher’s duties. 3) As the teacher’s interaction time and task feedback time increase per the levels of classes, it is necessary to consider the burden of work for teachers by levels. Second, regarding students, 1) Multilingual support should be provided on the Online King Sejong Institute platform for student registration. 2) For mass student registration, there should be sufficient guidance through local SNS and through the person in charge of the collaborative agency for students to login and attend classes smoothly. 3) For online blended course, student’s curriculum registration should be separated by language and region. 4) It is necessary to improve the completion rate of learners. Third, regarding curriculum, 1) Various courses were operated such as Cyber Korean Courses, Collaboration e-Class, King Sejong Institute e-Class. In particular, many problems were identified while operating Cyber Korean Courses and Collaboration e-Classes recruiting general learners. 2) It was confirmed that students were provided convenience by free PDF teaching material in addition to online contents. Lastly, regarding the educational environment, 1) Since there are many regions with insufficient network, contents and LMS should be lighter for easier access. 2) The learning process such as report submission and quiz should be easily accessible through smart phones for user convenience.
