This study examined trends in Korean language education research over the past 18 years using 298 research projects conducted by the National Research Foundation of Korea, using LDA-based topic modeling, a mode of cluster analysis. The results of the analysis were grouped into five topics: language acquisition, teaching methods, learning methods, status and development of programs, and undergraduates’ college life. Each of these topics was analyzed in terms of the evident research trends it reflected. This study provided an assessment of the characteristics of Korean language education research tasks of the National Research Foundation of Korea.
