The purpose of this study is to present case of speaking education in Korean language department of Chinese university using ZOOM, an interactive real-time online platform, and responses of learners who completed one semester to reveal that ZOOM can be an appropriate platform for speaking education in online classes initiated due to COVID 19. For successful progress of online classes, it is most important to choose appropriate online platforms suit to course characteristics before class, and quality of lecturer of being familiar with and skillfully utilizing the selected platform is essential. Learning materials and supplementary materials need to be adapted to online class situation and media devices and equipment enhancing efficiency of online class are also required. During class, it is necessary to try various activities using online platforms with appropriate learner control. This study reveals through real-life examples that pair activities or assessments using ZOOM breakout rooms and video assignments or video feedback using ZOOM recording function are effective in enhancing Korean language skill of leaners. Finally, this study conducts a survey of 1st and 2nd grade learners who completed online Korean speaking class for one semester and analyzes subjective responses over course evaluation into positive and negative responses. Given that learners’ positive responses are dominant over negative responses, ZOOM, an interactive real-time online platform, can be quite effective when Korean speaking classes are conducted online.
