The purpose of this study is to suggest the performance tasks based on backward design as a teaching and learning method for Korean language education for KSL students. To accomplish this, the core contents of backward design model was analyzed, the procedures of the backward design method was reviewed for constructing a task for Korean language education for KSL students. By setting the Korean language performance task according to the backward design model that emphasizes the knowledge applicable to the actual context, it is effective for KSL students to acquire the knowledge transferable to real life as well as the “Perpetual understanding” of language learning around the main idea. In this paper, the presentations and fairy tale productions using comparison and contrast expressions on the theme of ‘culture’ are designed to enable children learners living in a multicultural era to learn linguistic knowledge and cultural attitudes as integrated activities. In addition, specific teaching plans and rubrics for evaluation were presented, and the plans for applying these teaching / learning plans to the actual educational field were discussed.
