한국어 교재의 어휘 제시 양상에 대한 연구

A Study on the Vocabulary of Korean Textbooks; Focused on textbooks published after the 1980s

This study examines ‘vocabulary education’ as a field of Korean language education that has continuously sought new contents and methods of education in accordance with the changes and development of the times. In particular, the research focuses on the changes in the contents and methods of vocabulary education in the recently published Korean textbooks and tries to find a desirable approach to the vocabulary in Korean textbooks. In this study, five requirements for the lexical domain of Korean textbooks were chosen through analysis of previous research. First, the appropriate vocabulary and vocabulary amount should be determined considering the level and goals of the learner. Second, the target vocabulary categorized in relation to the subject / function of the unit should be presented in the syllabus. Third, the meaning and usage information of target vocabulary should be presented. Fourth, pattern-drills and meaningful practice for target vocabulary learning should be provided. Fifth, the target vocabulary should be utilized in the understanding and performance of topic and function. This study analyzed textbooks published in the 1990s and after 2010. As a result, the current textbooks deal more with vocabulary than the textbooks until the 1990s, and the recognition of the importance of vocabulary in communication ability is reflected in the textbooks. However, there is still a need to improve the effective presentation and practice of vocabulary. This study suggests the directions for presenting vocabulary in Korean textbooks. First, it is necessary to present a vocabulary with a device that can help to understand the meaning and use of the target vocabulary. Second, it is necessary to develop and apply various exercises for target vocabulary to help understand the morphological, syntactic, and phonological constraints associated with the use of each vocabulary. Third, in the case of integrated textbooks, it should be planned to construct a dialogue or text containing the target vocabulary in the task of performing each function.
