The Development of Korean Textbooks for Thailand Secondary School Students

The purpose of this study is to present the theoretical basis, various problems, and the development process applied to the development of Korean textbooks for secondary school students in Thailand. In this study, we examined the goals of Thailand’s secondary curriculum, Thailand’s educational situation, and the characteristics of Thai students and teachers in order to develop Korean textbooks in secondary schools in Thailand. The study is meaningful on two levels, first of all, that Korean textbooks were developed through strong collaboration between Korea and Thailand. The development of this textbook was carried out through cooperation between experts and government officials from the two countries over the entire course of writing. The second is the systematic process of developing Korean language curriculum and writing textbooks on them. Through the systematic process, textbooks could be developed that focused on Thai secondary school students. The study will be meaningful in that it provided basic research for the development of foreign secondary school textbooks by showing the development process of Korean textbooks for secondary school students.
