This study aims to suggest efficient methods for using flipped learning to teach Korean culture to foreign learners in liberal arts classes at Korean universities. It is the general perception that the importance of culture is significantly growing for foreign learners adapting to their lives in college and Korean society. However, the reality of cultural and liberal arts classes for foreign learners at universities is that most of them are large-scale lectures where the instructor unilaterally teaches the predetermined content to students without direct interaction; therefore, it is difficult to elucidate the practical educational significance of such classes. Considering these challenges, this study focuses on alleviating the anxiety and fear of foreign students at a university who will soon enter Korean society and assists them in successfully adapting to life in Korea. Therefore, this study presented the flipped learning model by broadly classifying the stages as follows: the before-class - online knowledge acquisition stage; the in-class lecture - interactive cultural capacity enhancement stage; and the extra-class cultural capacity practicing stage. This study also examined the definition, characteristics, and significance of Korean cultural education through flipped learning, while presenting the flipped learning teaching guide using various video materials for the before-class stage as well as diverse activities during class.
