The purpose of this study is to analyze teaching journal in the perspective of reflection and to conform the contribution of journal writing on the change of the teachers to prove that it is an effective tool for teachers’ expertise development. For this, teaching journals written by 2 new lecturers of Korean language education institution for 6 months were analyzed based on the focus of reflection (belief of teacher, role of teacher, focus on the student, composition of language learning, interaction in the classroom, characteristics of language learning activity, language usage in the classroom). As a result, in terms of teacher, student and teaching and learning, awareness of problem through observation of one’s own teaching and change oriented attitude were verified. Also, as a result of written interviews with 2 participated teachers as target after completing journal writing, they said that they had opportunity to reflect their teachings in several aspects and could utilize the result in the enhancement of teaching. Conclusively, it was possible to find out that journal writing helps enhancement of the quality of teaching with self-directed activity based on self-motivation of teachers and, in the long term, contribute to the professional growth of teachers.
