This study aims at examining how students learning korean for academic purposes use connective suffix in their writing. For learners who study korean for academic purposes, it is not easy to express their thoughts with a single sentence due to the fact that delivering information or their opinion requires their ability to think complicatedly to show what they have in mind exactly. In this context, this study focuses on how they use conjunctional suffixes (what suffix they use often and what grammatical errors they make). To become a college student in Korea, korean learners now should be at least in intermediate level. That's why we choose them as the right range of learners to collect writings for this study. We have searched on their writings and analysed them in terms of variety and accuracy. After examining data of students who are in the beginning step in intermediate class, we have figured out that they show monotonous uses in terms of diversity. They often use single sentences, particular connective suffixes, and repetitional structures. In terms of accuracy, some of them feel difficult to understand grammar and make a distinction between grammars having similarity, or make an error when using sequence of sentences, compound sentences, and colloquial language. With this result, we could educate korean learners and help them find a way to expand their sentences.
