This study offers a critical analysis of Korea’s discourse on English language teaching. To do this, I analyze a private elementary school's prospectus about immersion program. This kind of discourse is practical argumentative discourse to claim that actor should act in a certain way. This discourse was analyzed by Fairclough and Fairclough’s (2012) framework. Through this analysis, it is revealed that the English immersion program discourses are based on these values such as efficiency, productivity, and private interest. Moreover, these values are identical with values for which global society is pursuing. In conclusion, linguistic imperialism and language ideology are embedded in discourse on English language teaching.
