This thesis is to study the correlation between the level of improvement of Korean writing of foreign students and the content knowledge that they write about. The number of foreigners who want to study Korean to achieve their academic purposes has increased. They are very much interested in the content knowledge in writing, which is important for them to achieve their academic objectives. Therefore, it was assessed whether foreigners can improve Korean writing even they write about any content they learned in Korean, or they can improve it only when they write about particular content they carefully choose. For the above, we asked foreign students to see movies and let them write about the movies in Korean to understand how the new knowledge from the movies influenced in the quality of Korean writing. The result shows that the quality of Korean writing is different depending on different subjects of the movies they wrote about. Also, only students fully understood the movies wrote Korean better. This result guides us to develop a strategy to select right content knowledge to deliver to foreign students for better Korean writing education. What’s important is not quantity but proven quality of the knowledge.
