Research on the Development of a Training Program for Korean Culture Educators

This research argues the need for the development of a training program for Korean culture educators to cultivate their teaching ability of Korean culture to a professional level. Therefore, this paper aims to provide a foundation to the Korean culture educator training program. We plan to discuss Korean culture as an independent education content by breaking away from the previous Korean culture education that was used as a tool to better communicate competence in Korean. In order to provide education on Korean culture as an independent subject, there is a need to develop an educator training program that will cultivate a culture expert that has the skills of a culture professor who has cross-cultural competence and has profound knowledge on the Korean culture as well as other cultures. This paper will present the program with four sections that are required from a Korean culture educator and will suggest appropriate curriculum for the program.
