The aim of this paper is to compare the meanings of taste adjectives in Korean and German. Taste adjectives are closely related to the common human sense. However, at the same time, they are concerned with the food life of speakers in a speech community. Therefore, it can be assumed that the meaning expressions of taste adjectives in individual languages may reflect the own characteristics of the culture and language of a speech community. On the basis of this assumption, this paper observes the various aspects of the meanings of taste adjectives in Korean and German, according to 6 basic tastes, i. e. sweet-taste, sour-taste, salty-taste, bitter-taste, hot-taste, astringent-taste. Particularly, the aspects of the meaning shift and meaning extension are examined in priority. First, in the chapter 2, the morphological and semantic characteristics of taste adjectives in Korean and German are briefly surveyed, and the various meaning expressions of taste adjectives are closely observed with concrete examples in two languages. In the chapter 3, the characteristics of the meaning expressions of the taste adjectives in two languages are compared and analyzed.
