A through review of the previous research on Korean education will assist in harmonizing theory with practice. This paper aims to take an overview of research patterns and changes found in the contrastive researches between Korean and other languages over the past 40 years since 1969. This study analysed about 633 journal articles and dissertations related to the contrastive researches between Korean and other languages including the contrastive analysis. They were classified under four variables: chronology, published type, language to contrast, research topic. The topics of researches were discussed under four categories: phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic. Based on the results, I suggest new directions for future research in the contrastive research between Korean and other languages.
