This study is to present the direction of the research on Korean pronunciation education. The overview of research on the Korean pronunciation teaching and learning over the past 25 years were reviewed in this study. It analyzed about 238 journal articles and dissertations related to Korean pronunciation education, chronically. Analysis shows that the studies in the pre-2000s were to prepare the foundation of Korean pronunciation education by breaking new ground. In 2000s, there were further studies being done in details of the previously created ground, and the studies in the new area, which are about teaching materials, pronunciation evaluation, and the history of research. In 2000s, there has been an explosive growth in terms of both quantity and quality of the research on this area, but the difficulties in the Korean pronunciation classroom still have remained unsolved. With this in mind, I tried to suggest some directions for further studies in Korean pronunciation eduction; researches about 1)teaching method in the classroom consist of students having different mother tongue, 2)teaching and learning activities, 3)grading teaching items, and 4)phonetic characteristics of spoken language performance, 5)development of teaching material designed for self-directed learning.
